Built for Style and Performance

Every floor standing tap in the Tapron range is manufactured using solid brass or stainless steel, finished in options such as brushed brass, brushed nickel, matt black, gunmetal, and antique gold and brushed bronze. These finishes are designed not just for appearance, but for long-term durability in high-moisture environments. Resistant to tarnishing, fingerprints, and wear, they continue to perform and look their best, even with frequent use.

A popular choice for freestanding baths, these taps are available as standalone bath fillers or with integrated shower handsets. Models with dual outlet functionality allow easy switching between bath spout and shower, giving users more flexibility during daily routines.

From models with crosshead or lever handles to more modern designs with single levers and thermostatic controls, the range accommodates a wide range of preferences and pressure systems. Whether you have low pressure in a period property or a high-pressure combi system, you’ll find compatible options to suit.

Freestanding Taps: Traditional vs. Contemporary Styles

Modern Freestanding Bath Taps

Modern designs are known for their simplicity and smart functionality. Usually requiring a single-hole installation, they keep visible plumbing to a minimum and are often paired with square or rounded bases for a streamlined look. Integrated diverters allow seamless control between bath filler and shower handset, and single-lever controls make temperature and pressure adjustments easy.

Popular finishes in this range include brushed brass for a warm contemporary tone, matt black for bold contrast, and polished chrome for classic minimalism. These taps are ideal for bathrooms with clean lines and minimalist layouts, and pair well with walk-in showers, slimline furniture and other modern fittings.

Traditional Freestanding Bath Taps

For homeowners looking to retain character or design a space with period influence, traditional freestanding taps bring the classic charm. Featuring elegant swan-neck spouts, crosshead handles or porcelain lever detailing, these taps are styled to suit traditional baths. Many traditional models are dual-control, allowing separate adjustment of hot and cold flow, and are available in two-hole setups for more secure floor mounting. Options with integrated shower handsets preserve the historic appeal while offering added functionality for hair washing or rinsing.

Choosing the Right Configuration

Single Outlet (Bath Filler): Ideal for those who want simplicity – perfect for soaking and less complex to install.

Dual Outlet (Bath Mixer with Shower Head): Offers greater practicality. Easily switch between filling the bath and using the handheld shower.

Mounting Options: Freestanding bath taps are typically floor-mounted, and pipe centres should be checked to match your plumbing setup. Installation in larger or open-plan bathrooms offers greater flexibility for positioning.

Height and Reach: Most models range from 800mm to 1200mm in height. Be sure to measure the height of your bath to ensure your tap is tall enough to clear the rim and positioned to prevent splashback.

A Finishing Touch with Coordinated Accessories

Complete your freestanding setup with complementary pieces such as basin taps, black or brushed brass accessories, and coordinated bath wastes. For a cohesive result, pair your freestanding bath tap with matching towel radiators, towel rings from the same finish collection.

Explore Tapron’s collection of freestanding bath taps – designed to suit a wide range of interior styles while offering reliable performance. Whether for a full renovation or a feature upgrade, find a solution that suits your bathroom layout and reflects your personal taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What plumbing requirements should I consider before installing a freestanding bath tap?

Before installing a freestanding bath tap, it’s essential to ensure your bathroom floor can accommodate floor-mounted pipework. These taps require hot and cold water supply pipes to rise from beneath the floor surface and align accurately with the tap’s pipe centres. Common pipe centres range from 150mm to 200mm, but this varies by model, so always refer to the product’s technical specifications. Additionally, you must confirm that your existing water pressure is compatible—most freestanding taps require a minimum of 0.5 bar, though high-pressure systems (1–3 bar) are often recommended for optimal performance, particularly if the tap includes a shower handset.

2. Are freestanding bath taps compatible with all bath types?

Freestanding bath taps are specifically designed for use with freestanding bathtubs—such as roll-top, slipper, or back-to-wall baths—that are not positioned against a wall. These taps are not typically suitable for standard inset or alcove-style bathtubs. The height of the tap and the reach of the spout must be considered to ensure the water flows into the bath without splashing or overreaching. Most models range between 800mm and 1200mm in height with varied spout projections, so it’s advisable to measure the height of your bath’s rim to confirm compatibility. Always check for base stability and ensure solid floor support beneath the installation point.

3. Which is more suitable for modern bathroom use — a freestanding bath filler or a bath mixer with handset?

The suitability depends on both functionality and user needs. A freestanding bath mixer with a shower handset is more practical in multi-functional bathrooms, offering convenient rinsing and cleaning capabilities alongside standard bath filling. It’s particularly useful in homes without separate shower enclosures. Bath fillers, on the other hand, are ideal for minimalist setups or where a separate shower system is installed. From a plumbing perspective, both options require floor-mounted water feeds, but bath mixers may require a higher flow rate and better pressure balancing to operate both outlets effectively.
